FAQ & Policies

Question 1

How long does production take?

Accepted Answer

Standard production time is 1–3 business days from order confirmation. Custom orders with complex artwork or large quantities may require 5–7 business days. You'll receive an estimated completion date when your order is confirmed.

Question 2

Do you offer rush orders?

Accepted Answer

Rush production may be available depending on our current workload. Email us at custom@sovrntyprintshop.com with your deadline before placing your order and we'll let you know what's possible. Rush orders do require an additional fee.

Question 3

When does production start?

Accepted Answer

Production begins after full payment is received and, for custom orders, after artwork has been approved by both parties.

Question 4

Where do you ship?

Accepted Answer

We currently ship within the United States and Canada. Additional destinations may be available — contact us to ask.

Question 5

How long does shipping take?

Accepted Answer

Shipping time depends on your location and the method selected at checkout. Standard shipping typically takes 3–5 business days after production is complete. Expedited options are available at checkout.

Question 6

Will I get a tracking number?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Once your order ships you'll receive a confirmation email with your tracking information.

Question 7

Who pays for shipping?

Accepted Answer

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and order weight. Orders over $100 qualify for free standard shipping within the contiguous United States.

Question 8

What file formats do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept PNG, PDF, AI, and PSD files. For best results, provide files at 300 DPI or higher at the intended print size. PNG files with a transparent background are ideal for DTF transfers.

Question 9

What if I don't have a finished design?

Accepted Answer

No problem — describe your idea and we'll work with you. Design assistance is available for custom orders for an additional fee. Contact us at custom@sovrntyprintshop.com to discuss.

Question 10

Do you check artwork before printing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We review every file before production. If we spot any issues with resolution, color, or sizing, we'll reach out before we print.

Question 11

Are there color limitations?

Accepted Answer

DTF printing supports full-color artwork with no color count restrictions. Colors may vary slightly from screen to print due to monitor calibration differences.

Question 12

What heat press settings should I use?

Accepted Answer

Pre-press your garment at 320°F for 10 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. Then press your transfer at 320°F for 10 seconds with medium pressure. Peel cold — allow the transfer to cool fully before removing the film. Finish with a second press at 320°F for 10 seconds using a Teflon sheet or parchment paper over the design.

Question 13

Cold peel or hot peel?

Accepted Answer

Our standard DTF transfers are cold peel. After pressing at 320°F for 10 seconds, allow the transfer to cool completely before peeling the film back slowly at a low angle. Peeling while still hot can affect adhesion and print quality.

Glitter and Glow in the Dark transfers are also cold peel.

Question 14

Should I do a second press?

Accepted Answer

Yes — a second press is required for all transfer types. After peeling, place a Teflon sheet or parchment paper over the transfer and press again at 320°F for 10 seconds with medium pressure. This seals the edges and significantly improves wash durability.

Question 15

What fabrics work best with DTF transfers?

Accepted Answer

DTF transfers adhere well to cotton, polyester, cotton/poly blends, nylon, and leather. They work on both light and dark fabrics. Avoid fabrics with heavy texture, waterproof coatings, or very loose weaves, as adhesion may be reduced.

Question 16

Can I use a household iron instead of a heat press?

Accepted Answer

A heat press is strongly recommended for consistent pressure and temperature.

Question 17

How do I store unused DTF transfers?

Accepted Answer

Store unused transfers flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep them in their original packaging or a sealed bag. Properly stored transfers remain usable for up to 12 months.

Question 18

How should I wash my printed garment?

Accepted Answer

Turn the garment inside out and wash in cold water on a gentle cycle. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners, which can degrade the print over time.

Question 19

Can I put it in the dryer?

Accepted Answer

Preferrably hang to dry, but you can tumble dry on low heat. High heat can cause prints to crack or peel prematurely.

Question 20

Can I iron over the print?

Accepted Answer

Do not iron directly on the print. If ironing is needed, turn the garment inside out or place a cloth between the iron and the print.

Question 21

How do I care for apparel with standard HTV?

Accepted Answer

Keep your custom design looking fresh with these simple care tips.

• Before Washing: Wait at least 24 hours after receiving your freshly pressed garment before its first wash.
• Washing: Turn garment inside out. Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle.
• Detergent: Use mild detergent. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and harsh chemicals.
• Drying: Hang dry whenever possible or tumble dry on low heat.
• Ironing: Never iron directly over the vinyl design. Avoid direct contact between heat and the artwork.
• Dry Cleaning: Not recommended.

Care Tip: Washing inside out helps reduce friction and protects your design from premature wear.

Question 22

How do I care for apparel with Glitter HTV?

Accepted Answer

Keep the sparkle shining! Glitter designs require a little extra care to maintain their vibrant finish.

• Before Washing: Wait at least 24 hours before the first wash.
• Washing: Turn garment inside out. Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle.
• Detergent: Use mild detergent. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and harsh chemicals.

• Dry Cleaning: Not recommended.

Care Tip: Avoid washing glitter-decorated apparel with garments containing exposed zippers, Velcro, or other abrasive materials that could scratch or wear down the glitter surface.

Question 23

How do I care for apparel with Puff Vinyl?

Accepted Answer

Puff vinyl creates a beautiful raised, dimensional finish. Proper care helps maintain its unique 3D texture.

• Before Washing: Wait at least 24 hours before the first wash.
• Washing: Turn garment inside out. Wash in cold water using a gentle cycle. Hand washing is also an excellent option.
• Detergent: Use mild detergent. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and harsh chemicals.
• Drying: Air dry whenever possible, preferably laid flat. Avoid high-heat drying.
• Ironing: Never iron or apply direct heat to the puff design.
• Handling: Avoid excessive stretching, rubbing, or pressing down on the raised design.
• Dry Cleaning: Not recommended.

Care Tip: Excessive heat and pressure may flatten or permanently change the dimensional appearance of puff vinyl.

Question 24

Any general care tips for all custom apparel?

Accepted Answer

Your custom apparel is designed to stand out! Following these instructions helps maintain the quality and appearance of your garment through repeated wear.

Please also follow the garment manufacturer's care label and always use the gentler care method when instructions differ.
